Origins

Adult

1. In the 16th century war broke out between Burma and Thailand 

2. Burma won the war and ruled Thailand until 1585

3. The crown prince of Burma & King Naresuan fought together after a ferocious battle on elephant back Prince Naresuan cut the Crown prince from shoulder to waist and won the battle giving Thailand its independence/freedom.

1. Muay Thai became part of the military training in 1590 to 1605

2. Muay Thai became known as a sport  between 1703 – 1709 during the reign of the Tiger king 

3. In 1930 Rules were introduced including boxing gloves - groin guard and weight categories

4. In 1977 Muay Thai was introduced to the UK by Grand Master Sken Grand Master Toddy & Grand Master Woody
