Helpful Grading Tips
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Helpful grading Tips from Arjarn Kay and Grandmaster Sken for MSA Luton Kru David.
The following are some tips that you must follow in order for the grading to flow smoothly.
When all those grading have signed and paid their fees (1 week in advance) you will be assembled, and Kru David may speak to you about the grading.
You will all be asked to sit away from the training mats. Kru David will then call out your name, at this point you must quickly stand up and say “yes sir” or Kru and you must wai bow. Then take your position on the mat. Normally before hand you can ensure that your training partner is called out at the same time so you can do the grading together. If you wish to take the grading but do not have a partner, Kru David will choose a partner for you. When you are on the mat ensure that both you and your partner are visible to Kru David and nothing is obscuring his view of you. You should make sure you have your bag gloves with you and any other equipment you may need.
After you have finished each set of techniques face Kru David and wai bow.If you feel at any time you have not done the technique correctly you do have the opportunity to try it again. All you do is stop turn to Master Sken, wai bow and ask to do it again, but remember you can only do this twice. After you have done all of the above and everyone on the mat has finished Kru David will ask you to gather round him and he will then speak to you individually and ask you to answer the following:
Repeat 3 camp rules of your own choice.
Repeat 3 fighters’ rules of your own choice.
Repeat 1 pledge of Muay Thai.
Kru David will then speak to you individually about how you have performed in the grading he may say that you are eligible to double grade at this point you will have to perform your next Ram Muay Thai. After you have finished you will be told to return to the back of the room. At the end of the grading day there will be a presentation where you will receive your armband and grading certificate.
If you double grade your fee for the next grade should be paid on the day. If at anytime you wish to speak to Master Sken or instructors on anything relating to the grading syllabus do not hesitate to ask we will be more than happy to help you.
