Yellow Armband
Preparation
The following are requirements for the White to Yellow Armband grading:
A valid Master Sken Academy license.
Full uniform which must be clean and presentable i e: camp shorts, t-shirt, ankle supports, white armband.
Bag gloves, sparring gloves and groin guard.
You must have trained regularly for a minimum of three months before the grading, as this will affect your marks.
To fully understand the camp rules as you will be asked to repeat 3 rules of your own choice.
Know at least three fighters rules.
Know one pledge of Muay Thai word for word.
Be able to hold the focus pads and kicking pads in the correct manner, as this aids both you and your partner when performing the individual techniques.
It is important that you are at the grading at least 45 minutes before the grading starts.

Techniques and Exercises
When demonstrating your techniques you must use correct form and concentrate on your guard and stance.
Do not drop your guard and do not place your feet to close together.
All techniques are performed in left guard stance.
The key elements when performing the techniques are:
Speed
Power
Accuracy
Stance/ guard
Timing
Balance
Flexibility
Distance
Ram Muay Thai no 1 and 2 (wai kru)
This is a traditional pre fight dance to show respect to the master and your instructor, camp and is also used to warm the body and mind before the fight begins.
There are Ram Muay Thai’s for each grade you must know two. If you have ability and perform well in the grading you may double grade at the discretion of the Kru or Master.
10 Exercises in 30 Seconds.
Perform 10 exercises; perform twice on each side of the body for example;
All these exercises are to be performed in a standing position.
Two - forward turns fingers locked arms forward
Two - forward and back - fingers locked arms directly above head
Two - turns above head fingers locked
Two - side to side fingers locked arms directly above head
Two - full turn fingers locked change direction
Two - Shoulder rotations forward
Two - bend elbows straighten arms to the sides extend up on to the toes as you extend
Two - touch your toes opposite hand to foot
Two squats
Two cross knee & elbow
3 Self Defense Techniques
5 Boxing Techniques
All must be done in left guarding position only.

Left jab right cross.
Left hook right hook.
Left uppercut right uppercut.
Left jab spinning right punch right cross/ stepping right punch left spinning punch left cross.
Right flying punch, left flying punch.
5 Elbow Techniques
Left cross elbow right cross elbow.
Left uppercut elbow right uppercut elbow.
Left circular elbow right circular elbow.
Step to right with left foot follow right reverse elbow half turn or full turn, get back step to left with right foot follow left reverse elbow half turn or full turn.
Right flying elbow left flying elbow.
5 Kneeing Techniques
Without holding left skipping front knee right front knee.
Without holding left side knee right side knee.
Grab partner around the neck and hold him left knee right knee, turn him to your right, left knee right knee, turn him again to the right and release him.
Grab partner around the neck and hold him follow hopping left side knee then a hopping right side knee.
Have your partner hold the kicking pad at chest level and perform a left flying knee then a right flying knee.
5 Kicking Techniques
All kicks are to the body, only spinning hook kick should be head height.
Skipping left front kick, right front kick.
Left roundhouse kick, right roundhouse kick (strike with your shin).
Left side kick right side kick.
Left turning back kick, right turning back kick.
Left spinning hook kick, right spinning hook kick (hit with your heel not with the side of your foot.
Free Sparring
You may be asked to free spar for one round this must be controlled it is specifically testing you on your techniques.
