  • Know the terminology (Thai words) you will be asked up to 3-4 words of your own choice (The terminology is available from your Instructor).

  • 3 questions on general knowledge about Thailand and its people, and Muay Thai.

  • Give a short speech on the history of Muay Thai. It should concentrate on these key points.

    1. How old Muay Thai is where it originated and why

    2. When it became a part of military training

    3. When did it become a sport

    4. When did it go through a transformation

    5. When Muay Thai was first introduced to Great Britain and by whom.

  • Demonstrate the Muay Thai techniques well, and combinations should flow and not stop and start.

  • Be able to hold the focus pads and kicking pads in the correct manner, as this aids both you and your partner when performing the individual techniques.

It is important that you are at the grading at least 45 minutes before the grading starts.

Try to have training partner who can also take part in the grading with you, this way you can help each other in practicing this is not always essential. When telling your partner your combinations do not make them too complicated unless your partner is experienced with the pads or you have practiced them with him. If he is unsure it can make your combinations look sloppy.

Make sure your partner is ready before you perform a combination or demonstrate a technique.

Techniques and Exercises

Never forget you’re basics these are the very foundation of what you are learning.

When demonstrating your techniques you must use correct form and concentrate on your guard and stance.  Do not drop your guard and do not place your feet to close together. All techniques are performed in left guard stance.

Important: Each Blue grade should have a variation of different combinations and defense showing the ability to be creative. Combinations must vary each time you grade and increase technically. This will be monitored and noted in your grading paper given on the day.

The key elements when performing the techniques are:
